Falling In FP2 MotoGP Mandalika, Marc Marquez: Haven't Found The Right Tires

JAKARTA - Repsol Honda racer Marc Marquez had to experience an incident during the second free practice session (FP2) at the Mandalika Circuit on Friday, March 18 afternoon. Marquez fell ahead of the last lap. The Spaniard said he had not found the right tires for the race.

In the first free practice in the morning, Marquez managed to register himself as the third fastest. He was only a tenth of a second behind compatriot Pol Espargaro.

His new mount, the RC213V showed good performance as Marquez worked hard to record his best time in Indonesia.

However, in the second free practice #93 suffered a slowdown at Turn 11 which saw him crash and not return to the circuit in the final minutes of the free practice session. Marquez said the tires used to a lesser extent affect his appearance.

"Today in the morning we were able to go pretty well, but then in the afternoon we had an accident when it was not the time to have an accident," he said in a written statement quoted by Antara, Saturday 19 March.

"This can happen when you push for one fast lap," Marquez continued.

Marc Marquez also hopes that the follow-up agenda on Saturday, March 19 will run smoothly, including his expectations about the weather. The driver is very aware of the possibility of rain which will affect the state of the circuit.

"We still need to work on what tires are best for the race, this will be the main objective for tomorrow's schedule (today). Before the crash it was fine, but we have to see how the situation is tomorrow. Not happy with the result, and hopeful conditions dry tomorrow morning," Marquez hoped.

Saturday, March 19 today, the Mandalika 2022 MotoGP agenda will open with the FP3 schedule starting at 09.50 WIB, followed by FP4 at 13.25 WIB. Without a long pause, the agenda will continue to Qualification 1 at 14.05 WIB and Qualification 2 at 14.30 WIB.
