Fajar/Rian Regrettably 4 Indonesian Men's Doubles Clash In The First Round Of All England 2022

JAKARTA – Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Rian Ardianto regretted the draw for the All England 2022 men's doubles number. The four Indonesian pairs who clashed in the first round were considered a bit disappointing.

Indonesia sent six men's doubles representatives to the world's oldest championship. Unfortunately, two of them are confirmed to have been eliminated in the first round because they faced each other with compatriots.

Fajar/Rian became one of the four representatives who had to engage in a duel with a partner from the same country. The sixth seed immediately met their juniors Leo Rolly Carnando/Daniel Marthin.

"If you look at the draw, it is very unfortunate because four Indonesian men's doubles pairs directly met in the first round, but this is an individual match. So, there must be something like that and we want to live it," said Fajar in an official statement received by VOI.

Even though they have to meet fellow countrymen, Fajar/Rian admits that they are ready to fight. The world number nine pair also feels that their preparations can be more mature because they will appear first in the German Open.

They will use that opportunity as a warm-up before going down at the All England. Previously Leo/Daniel were also dropped in the German Open, but PBSI later withdrew this pair because they had just come from the 2022 Asian Team Badminton Championships in Malaysia.

"Preparations are good enough, just maintenance. Take care of your condition and health. Our plus point is to the German Open. We can measure our strength because the opponents in the All England also mostly play in Germany. We also use Germany as a warm-up event," said Rian.

Meanwhile, the men's doubles coach Herry Iman Pierngadi ensured that his team would not be affected by the draw. Preparation is their only focus at the moment as their departure to Europe draws near.

"The preparations have been good. For those who did not participate in the Asian Team Championship yesterday, the training was continuous. It remains only to finalize the pattern of play and maintain conditions, especially for Fajar / Rian who will play in the German Open first. The target for the men's doubles at All England is to reach the final first, later. In the final, anything can happen," said Herry.

Apart from Fajar/Rian, Pramudya Kusumawardana/Yeremia Erich Yoche Yacob Rambitan also faced a similar challenge. This couple is certain to meet Muhammad Shohibul Fikri/Bagas Maulana.

In addition to the four pairs above, the other two representatives of the Indonesian men's doubles are the first seeds Marcus Fernaldi Gideon / Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo and the second seeds Mohammad Ahsan / Hendra Setiawan.

In the first round later, Marcus / Kevin will face representatives of South Korea, Choi Solgyu / Seo Seung Jae. Meanwhile, The Daddies will face Indian representatives MR Arjun/Dhruv Kapila.
