Inter Milan Vs Liverpool: Firmino And Salah Bring The Reds To Silence The Nerazzurri At The Giuseppe Meazza

JAKARTA - Liverpool won 2-0 away to Inter Milan in the first leg of the Champions League last 16 at the Giuseppe Meazza on Thursday morning.

Launching Antara, the Reds' two goals were scored by Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah each in the last 15 minutes of the match.

This victory will be Liverpool's capital when it turns to host Inter Milan in the second leg match which will be held on March 8 at Anfield.

Inter threatened the first time in this match in the 6th minute. Lautaro Martinez gets the ball in the penalty box and releases a shot that is still wide on the right side.

Three minutes later it was Liverpool's turn to find the scoring opportunity from the chaos in front of goal, but Thiago Alcantara's shot just flew high past Samir Handanovic's goal.

In the 14th minute, Sadio Mane's header which met Andrew Robertson's cross was still wide. Two minutes later Inter threatened Alisson Becker's goal with Hakan Calhanoglu's curling effort from the right but the ball still hit the crossbar.

Mane also had a chance in the 23rd minute with an overhead kick at the far post after receiving Ibrahima Konate's pass but his effort was not on target.

Liverpool are trying to suppress the Inter defense and force the hosts to play more in their own territory. However, the Italian club can still threaten through bali attacks and set pieces.

One of them in the 40th minute from Milan Skriniar's header after continuing Calhanoglu's corner, but the ball has not found Alisson's goal. Until halftime, the score remained 0-0.

Entering the second half, Liverpool included Roberto Firmino as a substitute for Jota. Even so, the visitors are still difficult to create opportunities.

Inter had scored in the 60th minute through Edin Dzeko's kick. However, the goal was disallowed because it was in an offside position when receiving a through ball.

Liverpool brought on Luis Diaz to provide another attacking option and it proved he was able to trouble Inter's defence. Diaz's first chance came in the 67th minute when he stabbed in from the left and fired home, which although still flew.

Inter had their chance in the 67th minute from Denzel Dumfries' header following Calhanoglu's cross. Unfortunately Dumfries experiment has not led to a goal.

Liverpool finally broke the deadlock in the 75th minute through Firmino. Starting with Trent Alexander-Arnold's corner at the near post, Firmino won the aerial duel with Bastoni and the ball was headed home at the far post by Handanovic. The score became 1-0.

Eight minutes later, Inter conceded again. Trent's free-kick was headed in by Van Dijk and led to Salah who kicked it through the crowd before heading into the net. The score becomes 2-0.

Until the match was over, the 2-0 advantage remained for the visitors to win.
