Pramudya Happy That The 2022 Asian Team Badminton Championships Become A Stage For Young Players

JAKARTA – Men's doubles specialist Pramudya Kusumawardana is pleased that the 2022 Asian Team Badminton Championships will become a stage for young players. He wanted to make the most of the opportunity.

The 2022 Asian Team Badminton Championships will take place at the Setia City Convention Center, Selangor, Malaysia, on 15-20 February 2022. PBSI as the parent of badminton sent as many as 20 young players to the event.

One of the 20 players is Pramudya. The 21-year-old player who partnered with Yeremia Erich Yoche Yacob Rambitan also admitted that he was very enthusiastic about facing his first senior team championship.

“It's a pleasure to be playing and trusted to join the team at BATC. This is the first time that Jeremiah and I have played in the senior team," said Pramudya, quoted from the official PB Djarum website.

"What's interesting in my opinion this time the coach fielded a full young player. This is a good opportunity for us young players to gain a lot of experience," he continued.

The draw results put the Indonesian men's team in Group A along with India, South Korea and Hong Kong. Meanwhile, the Indonesian women's team is with South Korea, Hong Kong and Kazakhstan in Group Z.

In this tournament the men's team came as champions in the three most recent editions. Thus, Pramudya and his friends have a tough task because they are expected to repeat their previous success.

"There must be a burden in every tournament because there are targets to be achieved, especially with Indonesia being the defending champion. But I use that as motivation for me to do my best in the next match," said Pramudya.

The Indonesian team departed from Jakarta on Monday, February 7 last. Upon arrival in Malaysia, they immediately undergo a five-day quarantine in accordance with the regulations in force in that country.
