Sunoto Promotes Double Target Against Myanmar Fighters In ONE Championship, Promoting Batik And Dangdut Music

JAKARTA – Indonesian fighter Sunoto has a double target ahead of his duel at ONE Championship this week. He wanted to use the opportunity to promote the iconic heritage of batik and dangdut music.

Sunoto is scheduled to fight at the Singapore Indoor Stadium on Friday, 11 February. The mixed martial arts artist nicknamed The Terminator will face rising Myanmar fighter Tial Thang at ONE: BAD BLOOD.

The duel of these two fighters will be broadcast in more than 150 countries so even Sunoto does not want to waste this opportunity. He admitted that he wanted to wear batik to official events and used dangdut as music to walk out to the fighting arena.

"Every day I really like dangdut and I also like Via Vallen's distinctive voice. It's nice to hear. It's a kind of encouragement in itself. Dangdut is the music of my country," said the fighter from Blora, Central Java, quoted by ANTARA.

Sunoto's quest for victory will not be easy as he faces one of the fighters currently training at Sanford MMA. The place is a shelter for world MMA fighters such as Aung La N Sang, Brandon Vera, Vitor Belfort, and Michael Chandler.

However, Sunoto admitted that he was not afraid. Precisely the fact that Tial Thang trained at the famous gym made him even more motivated.

"I think it's the same. He can be friends with anyone, but a person's individual abilities can't be transmitted. Even if his team is good it doesn't guarantee he will play well. We don't know how he trains even in a good team. So we'll see. ," he said.

Psychologically Sunoto currently has the upper hand. This was supported by his victory over Nurul Fikri in his last match at ONE: WARRIOR'S CODE in Jakarta 2020.

Meanwhile, Tial Thang came up with a different result. He just lost to Song Jong Min by absolute decision in mid-2021.

Sunoto is one of the most experienced MMA athletes from Indonesia since starting his career on the global stage of ONE Championship in 2015. He recorded 10 wins or the most among other fighters in Indonesia.
