Coach Sudirman Admits Persija's Victory Over Persita Did Not Escape The Role Of Young Players

JAKARTA - Persija Jakarta managed to reap sweet results when playing the 21st week of the Liga 1 2021/2022 match. Facing Persita on Wednesday, January 26, Kemayoran Tigers came home with three points from a 2-1 win.

Not only was this a sweet result for the team, but this victory was also a good record for Sudirman's debut as a new coach. After the match, he also said that Persija's victory over Persita did not escape the role of their young players.

"Our young players can show their abilities to the maximum tonight. There is Rio (Fahmi) who can score goals and Taufik (Hidayat) can also score goals which are the key to victory", said the coach in a press conference after the game.

In that match, Persija was the first to take the lead after Rio Fahmi scored a goal in the 32nd minute. However, Persita also did not stay silent and caught up with Taylon Correa's action in the 40th minute. But the Kemayoran Tigers took the lead again thanks to Taufik Hidayat's 69 minutes of the match.

Furthermore, Sudirman actually admitted that this match was not easy because Persita did provide fierce resistance. However, the Capital City team was able to get out of the pressure and was able to take advantage of the opportunities very well.

"Thank God we were able to win. It was not an easy match because Persita Tangerang is a strong team and had lots of opportunities. We had difficulties at the beginning of the first and second rounds, but we were able to take advantage of the opportunity well", said Sudirman.

Seeing how his team played in that match, the 52-year-old coach inevitably gave his appreciation for the hard work of the team that appeared aggressive.

"All my players played spartan and aggressive. We were under pressure, but we defended compactly", said the 1991 SEA Games gold medal winner.

Despite winning by a narrow goal, this result made Persija gain three points which brought them up to sixth place in the 2021/2022 Liga 1 standings with 32 points from 21 matches.
