JAKARTA - The fulfillment of the homologation requirements for grade A of the Mandalika Circuit has reached 90 percent. The evaluation process by the Federation Internationale de Motocyclisme (FIM) will also be carried out after the pre-season test.

The Managing Director of The Mandalika Bram Subiandoro said that there are still some shortcomings that must be completed. The shortcomings include the installation of protective tires on the edge of the track as well as electronic goods.

“So the tires have arrived, just need to be installed, as well as electronics. Thursday, January 27 tomorrow, the workers have arrived, they went straight to the field (Mandalika Circuit), installed the equipment," said Bram as quoted by Antara.

Homologation is a procedure for assessing all aspects of racing against circuit licensing standards. The FIM as the world's motor racing authority has six levels of licenses or grades ranging from A to F.

For MotoGP races, the circuit that is determined as the host must have a grade A license. This grade is important because it dictates what races can be held at that circuit.

Bram ensured that the homologation assessment of the Mandalika Circuit grade A by the Federation Internationale de Motocyclisme (FIM) Guidelines would take place before the 2022 MotoGP event.

"For when, we can't say for sure, but yes, after the pre-season test, before the 2022 MotoGP, between that (timeframe)," said Bram.

Meanwhile, regarding the preparation of the track, Bram made sure that there were no problems, including the stagnant water around the circuit area. This problem has been overcome by installing pipes at several points so that there are no puddles when it rains.

Currently the organizers are also building a special place for the racer crew. The place is made of container material and some are available in the form of a tent.

Around the location for the racer crew area, a permanent perimeter fence has also been made. The additional spectator stands are expected to be completed two days before the 2022 MotoGP event.

"So, it's all arranged. March 16 is over," said Bram.

Before holding the Mandalika MotoGP race on March 18-20, the Mandalika Circuit will first host the 2022 MotoGP pre-season test on February 11-13.

The Mandalika series will be the second MotoGP series this season. The race at the national circuit will take place after the first series in Qatar on March 6th.
