Given Trust To Be The Head Of Organizing The 2022 ASEAN Para Games, Gibran Rakabuming: Solo Is Ready To Hold An International Event

JAKARTA – The Mayor of Solo, Gibran Rakabuming, was given the mandate to serve as the Chair of the ASEAN Para Games Organizing Committee or the Indonesia ASEAN Para Games Organizing Committee (INASPOC).

"Earlier I received a mandate to become the Chair of INASPOC," said Gibran in a statement received by VOI.

The trust was given to the son of President Joko Widodo after the city of Solo was declared to be the host of the 2022 ASEAN Para Games replacing Vietnam.

Solo is believed to be the host through a decree issued by the ASEAN Para Sports Federation (APSF) on January 14, 2022. However, Indonesia still has to wait for a sanction-free letter from WADA until February 15.

"I received good news from the Chair of the NPCI where we are trusted to host the 2022 ASEAN Para Games. This trust is extraordinary for the city of Solo," said Gibran.

In a meeting with the General Chair of NPCI, Senny Marbun, Gibran said he was proud that Solo was finally appointed as the host of this year's ASEAN Para Games. He also feels challenged and happy to be trusted to be the Chair of INASPOC.

"Later on, within the next six months, we will coordinate venues that are not good enough to be renovated. Solo is ready to hold an international event and this is extraordinary," he said.

Later the match venue will not only be in the city of Solo, but will also be spread in a number of cities around it. Among them Karanganyar and Boyolali are ready.

This is the second opportunity for Indonesia to host the two-year event. Previously, Indonesia had also hosted the event in 2011 at the same place.

It is planned that the 11th edition of the ASEAN Para Games will be held on July 20-31, 2022. In addition to preparing the venue, NPCI also continues to prepare athletes by holding National Training (Pelatnas).
