This Is What Shin Tae-yong Said About The Decision To Summon Wonderkid For The Indonesia Vs Timor Leste Match

JAKARTA - The coach of the Indonesian national team, Shin Tae-yong revealed the reason for calling several new players to several wonderkid such as Marselino Ferdinand and Ronaldo Kwateh, for the test match against Timor Leste.

Previously, Shin Tae-yong had released a list of 27 players who entered his team to face Timor Leste on FIFA Matchday. In the list, there are several names of young players who have never previously strengthened the Indonesian national team.

Shin Tae-yong also called other players who were even very young, namely Bayu Fiqri and Achmad Figo who were still 20 years old. The South Korean coach also summoned Sani Rizki from Bhayangkara FC and Terens Puhiri from Borneo FC.

Regarding his decision to include the names of the players above, Shin Tae-yong has his reasons. He admitted that he had deliberately summoned the young players and new faces for Indonesia vs Timor Leste match to challenge them.

"So the new players are the results I have monitored in Liga 1. It seems that (they) have an advantage. Whether these new players can do what I want, will be answered in the match, and these young players are indeed prepared for the AFF U-23 Cup as well", said Shin Tae Yong in an official PSSI (Indonesian Football Association) release.

Furthermore, Shin Tae-yong also revealed that this step was deliberately taken because he wanted to see the progress of several players who dropped out of the 2020 AFF Cup.

"Actually, I have a goal (against Timor Leste later) whether these national team players have an increase in confidence (after the AFF Cup 20202), whether the players can play according to my wishes", he continued.

Regardless of the reasons explained by Shin Tae-yong about his decision, the Indonesian national team itself is scheduled to play Timor Leste on the FIFA Matchday agenda twice. First, on January 27 and then January 30, where all matches will take place at the I Wayan Dipta Stadium, Bali.
