The Indonesian Women's National Team Is Ready To Install A Slick Strategy In The First Match Of The 2022 Asian Cup To Get Out Of Australia's Pressure

JAKARTA - The Indonesian women's national team is ready to play their inaugural match at the 2022 Women's Asian Cup against Australia. The match will take place tomorrow at the Mumbai Football Stadium, India.

In this match, the struggle of the Indonesian women's national team will be tested. To that end, Rudy Eka Priyambada's team continues to speed up mature strategies and training in order to get out of the opponent's pressure.

The Indonesian women's national team even started training at Yasvant Rao Field, Mumbai, India on Tuesday, January 18.

"So the training starts in the morning, first each exercise in the room through a zoom meeting instructed by the coaching team," said Garuda Pertiwi defender Diah Tri Lestari, quoted from YouTube PSSI.

"Then in the afternoon, we practice on the field with material that is usually given by the coach, starting from the positioning of the ball and how we can get out of the opponent's pressure," continued the player from Asprov West Java.

In the last meeting with Australia in the 2015 AFF Cup, the national team lost badly. Garuda Pertiwi fell 0-7 which resulted in failure to advance to the semifinals.

In this edition, Australia is believed to appear even more convincing by fielding its best squad. A number of their players even play in European leagues including the Women's English League (WSL).

They have Samantha Kerr who plays for Chelsea, Caitlin Foord at Arsenal WFC, Hayley Raso with Manchester City and Kyah Simon at Tottenham Hotspur.

However, the coach of the women's national team, Rudy Eka Priyambada, was not afraid. He admitted that he had prepared a strategy to deal with the constant pressure that the opposing team might give him.

"In terms of tactics we will play as usual as we did in preparation. Australia have players with very good quality, but we are ready to compete," said Rudy during a virtual press conference on Wednesday, January 19.

The former coach of Tira Persikabo said that nothing is impossible in football. "Indonesia is indeed not the favorite on paper, but anything can still happen," he said.
