No Longer The Men's Singles Trainer For The National Training Team, Hendry Saputra: I Think My Achievements Are Enough

JAKARTA – Men's singles special coach Hendry Saputra confirmed that he is no longer part of the PBSI National Training Center. He has resigned this month.

The coach's contract expires in December 2021 yesterday. PBSI also did not offer a contract extension for the coach who handled Anthony Sinisuka Ginting and his friends.

"It is true that I am not in the National Training Center this month," said Hendry when contacted by VOI on Tuesday, January 18.

Hendri said that he finished his service in Pelatnas on good terms. There was no problem whatsoever with the national badminton parent that prevented his contract from being extended.

For seven years Hendry served in the men's singles sector. Therefore, he feels that he has contributed enough to badminton in the country.

"I think my achievements are enough from the Olympics, Asian Games, and Thomas Cup. But clearly there is no problem whatsoever with PBSI," he said.

When managing the men's singles, Hendry made a number of flashy achievements. He led Jonathan Christie to get a gold medal at the 2018 Asian Games.

He also helped Indonesia bring home the Thomas Cup trophy in 2020. In addition, he also helped Anthony Sinisuka Ginting get bronze at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

PBSI itself is still silent about who will succeed Hendry Saputra in the men's singles relay. The Head of Development and Achievement Division, Rionny Mainaky, who tried to be contacted, did not answer the phone.
