Conquer Russia, Canada Advance To 2022 ATP Cup Inaugural Final

JAKARTA - The Canadian team managed to secure a ticket to the 2022 ATP Cup final after beating Russia with a score of 2-1. In the deciding match in the men's doubles pair, Felix Auger-Aliassime/Denis Shapovalov played. In the third match, the Felix/Denis pair beat Daniil Medvedev/Roman Safiullin 4-6, 7-5, 10-7.

"Felix did a great job. I was slow at the start and had a hard time coming back, but we did a good job together," said Shapovalov of his match in Sydney, Saturday 8 January.

In addition to securing victory in doubles, Canada also scored a victory in the first men's singles when Denis defeated Roman Safiullin in straight sets.

Then in the second men's singles, Felix appeared to face world number two Medvedev but unfortunately he could not overcome the advantage of the Russian representative who played more dominantly and gave the Russian team breath to equalize 1-1.

"I have to try and stay positive. But Denis and the team keep pushing me for the spirit. We had a tough start in the doubles, so to come back this way it's really the result of a good team work. This is the point of the Cup. ATP. This happiness represents the whole team," said Felix.

Next in Sunday's final, Canada will be awaited by Spain, who previously kicked Poland out of Friday's semifinals, the official 2022 ATP Cup report states.
