Undaunted Against Thailand In The 2020 AFF Cup Final, Egy Maulana: We're Fighting To The Last Blood

JAKARTA - The Indonesian national team midfielder, Egy Maulana Vikri, showed his optimism ahead of the 2020 AFF Cup final against Thailand. He even stated his determination to continue fighting for the victory of the Garuda Squad even to the last drop of blood.

"We will work hard even to the end, we will fight and bring the trophy (2020 AFF Cup champion)," said Egy in an online press conference ahead of the match on Tuesday, December 28.

Facing Thailand on Wednesday, December 29, Egy realized that his potential opponent this time was one of the favorite teams to win the AFF Cup 2020. However, the FK Senica player made sure that the Garuda squad would not be afraid to face the War Elephant Team.

"Thailand is above us, but we are not afraid. The ball is round, anything can happen on the field, the players will work hard to bring the trophy to Indonesia," continued Egy firmly.

This is not the first time that Indonesia and Thailand have met in the final. The Garuda squad has faced off against the top Asian team four times, namely in the finals in 2000, 2002, 2016, and 2020.

However, from the previous three meetings, Thailand has always failed Indonesia's dream to bring home the winning trophy.

Furthermore, Egy also said that Indonesia must be confident in facing Thailand. The former Lechia Gdansk player believes that coach Shin Tae-yong has prepared the best tactics to beat his opponent in the 2020 AFF Cup final.

"We have to believe that we can win, because belief is important to be confident. This is not all about me, but all players want to give their best. Coach (Shin Tae-yong) has also implemented what will be done in the final," said Egy.
