Indonesia's Position Up In FIFA Ranking, PSSI Expresses Appreciation And Proud

JAKARTA - Good news has arrived for Indonesian football. In the latest FIFA ranking list released Thursday, December 23, Indonesia experienced an increase in ranking.

In response to this positive development, PSSI through its General Chair (Ketum), Mochamad Iriawan, appreciated the serious efforts of all parties and said he was very proud.

"We appreciate and are very proud of the achievement of the Indonesian national team in the FIFA rankings. Of course this is thanks to the hard work of players, coaches and all official components," said Iriawan in a PSSI release.

It should be noted, based on FIFA's calculations, as of December 23, Indonesia has added 11.13 points. That makes Indonesia now occupy the 164th position and become the most developed Asian team.

The improvement in Indonesia's position in the FIFA rankings cannot be separated from the work of the national team in the 2020 AFF Cup. The reason is that until the first leg of the semifinals on Wednesday, the Garuda squad became an unbeaten team with a record of three wins and two draws.

Seeing how hard the national team players under the care of Shin Tae-yong were struggling in the 2020 AFF Cup, Iriawan admitted that he would continue to support and facilitate the program that Shin Tae-yong arranged.

"It should be noted that PSSI continues to support the program from coach Shin Tae-yong for the achievement of the Indonesian national team," he added.

Although Indonesia is claimed to be the most developed country, Vietnam's highest ranking is still held by Vietnam at 98th position. Followed by Thailand in the 115th position, the Philippines at 128th, Myanmar at 162, Malaysia at 154, and Singapore at 160.

Nevertheless, Indonesia still has the opportunity to continue to add points. This can be realized if the national team continues to get positive results in the 2020 AFF Cup, such as winning.
