Central KONI Awarded Five Best Athletes, Anthony Ginting On The List

JAKARTA - The Central Indonesian National Sports Committee (KONI) will hold the 2021 National Work Meeting (Rakernas) on Wednesday, December 9. Not only discussing future work plans, on that occasion the Central KONI also gave awards to five athletes who had the best achievements.

Athletes who received awards from the Central KONI were selected based on their achievements in winning medals at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. From the list of recipients of the award, there was the men's singles badminton player Anthony Sinisuka Ginting.

Being one of the recipients of the best athlete award, Ginting admitted that he did not expect it. But this is then used as a strong motivation to perform better and achieve even more in the next year.

"This (award) is one of the motivations to be better at facing tournaments in 2022 because while badminton in 2021 is over, Indonesia has no more matches," said Ginting who was also present at the KONI 202 National Working Meeting.

Not only Ginting, badminton has also won two awards. The second-best athlete award was pinned on the Indonesian women's doubles, Greysia Polii/Apriyani Rahayu.

Apart from badminton, the award for the best athlete from the Central KONI was bought by the weightlifting branch. Unmitigated, there were three names who got the best athlete title, they were Eko Yuli Irawan, Windy Cantika Aisah, and Rahmat Erwin Abdullah.

On the same occasion, the Central KONI also gave awards to other sports patriots. There are four categories, namely the pioneers in the field of sports development at the government level, the pioneers in the field of sports development at the Regional KONI level, and the builder or general chairman of the main sports organization.

It is hoped that by giving this award, Central KONI can continue to encourage the spirit of the athletes to continue to excel. Meanwhile, for supporting parties from the regions to the center, individuals or groups, it is hoped that they can provide a platform and a way for young athletes to continue to grow.
