Ahead Of Appearing In The Indonesia Open 2021 Final, Marcus/Kevin: Play Without A Burden

JAKARTA - The men's doubles pair Marcus Fernaldi Gideon/Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo is one of Indonesia's hopes for a title at the 2021 Indonesia Open. They managed to secure a ticket to the final round after making India's representatives run aground in the semifinals.

Pocketing one ticket to fight for the championship title, Marcus/Kevin admits they don't want to feel burdened. They also admitted that they did not have special preparations before appearing in the final, they just wanted to play without a burden.

"For tomorrow (today's final) the important thing is to prepare as well as possible, to be maximal and to play the best. And without any burden," Kevin said, quoted from Antara.

Although it is certain to appear in the final round, their efforts to qualify from the semifinals are not easy. Because, Satwiksairaj Rankireddy/Chirag Shetty, who are representatives of India, are not opponents to be taken lightly.

The Minions admit that they have to appear pressing from the first points in the early game.

"Grateful to be given the win today. We played faster and pressed from the start," said Marcus.

In the meeting at the Bali International Convention Center, Nusa Dua on Saturday, November 27, Marcus/Kevin managed to win after going through two exhausting games. Both of them succeeded in defeating Rankireddy/Shetty with a final score of 21-16 and 21-18.

Marcus / Kevin won the victory in 44 minutes. It was a long time to complete two games, Marcus then said that the opponent this time was a strong opponent so they had to keep pressing.

"We know that this Indian pair is an opponent who is strong and rather tough, we don't have any plans to play defensively. From the start, we did attack immediately," explained Marcus.

The record of winning in these two games is the first record for The Minion, because of the five previous matches they had to pass the game ruber to secure victory.

"Obviously winning two games is faster, but it's still not easy, because it was around 44 minutes against them," Kevin said.

In the final round which will take place on Sunday, November 28 this afternoon, Marcus/Kevin will definitely face Japan's representatives, Takuro Hoki/Yugo Kobayashi. Prospective opponents are known to have tight defenses, so Marcus / Kevin must be able to anticipate their appearance so they don't get tired and make many mistakes themselves.
