Securing Indonesia Open 2021 Semifinal Tickets, Greysia/Apriyani Focuses On Preparing Stamina

JAKARTA - Indonesian women's doubles badminton players, Greysia Polii/Apriyani Rahayu managed to secure tickets to the semifinals of the Indonesia Open 2021. Now, they are focusing on preparing their stamina to appear prime in the next round.

Greysia/Apriyani secured tickets to the semifinals after passing the quarter-finals on Friday, November 26. In the match which was held at the Bali International Convention Center, Nusa Dua, they faced a pair of representatives from Japan, Mayu Matsumoto / Ayako Sakuramoto.

Through the game ruber which lasted one hour and 16 minutes, Greysia/Apriyani closed the match with a 21-16, 12-21 and 21-18 victory. They locked the win to advance to the semifinals and frustrate the world's seventh seed.

Qualifying for the semifinals, Greysia/Apriyani have been waiting for a more challenging match. Both will face the winner of the match between Bulgarian doubles, Gabriela Stoeva/Stefani Stoeva or Thailand's third seed, Jongkolphan Kititharakul/Rawinda Prajongjai.

Although they have been waiting for a tougher opponent, Greysia/Apriyani doesn't feel burdened. Because for them, what is important right now is to focus on preparing stamina so that they can perform optimally in the semifinals later.

"We just do it one by one. We haven't thought about the other matches yet. We want to give the best performance," Apriyani said in a statement received by VOI, Friday, November 26.

"Now we want to recover physically for tomorrow. Whoever the opponent is, we must be ready," added Greysia.

Regarding the match against Japan's representatives in the quarter-finals, Greysia / Apriyani are clearly very grateful to have won. But it also cannot be separated from communication and work in a well-built team.

"We are grateful that we can win. The key is communication and trust in one with Greysia," explained Apriyani.
