Disappointed By Praveen/Melati's Poor Performance, Coach Nova: Don't Bring Personal Problems To The Field

JAKARTA - Indonesia's mixed doubles coach, Nova Widianto, expressed his disappointment over the poor results achieved by his teammates Praveen Jordan/Melati Daeva Oktavianti. According to him, Praveen / Melati did not have the fighting power when they appeared at the Indonesia Masters 2021.

"Frankly, I was very disappointed with their performance, as if there was no fighting spirit," said Coach Nova, quoted from a written statement received by VOI.

The disappointment felt by Nova Widianto was the aftermath of the failure of Praveen/Melati in the last 32 of the 2021 Indonesia Masters. Even though at that time they appeared as hosts and faced opponents whose ranking was far below them.

"As the host, you should compete optimally. Winning or losing is normal. The important thing is to fight first on the field. This isn't it," explained Nova.

"Even though the opponents they are facing (Kapila/Reddy) are two levels below them. They should be able to win," he continued.

Regarding the defeat that occurred in the round of 32 last Thursday, November 18, Melati had revealed that the result was not due to poor communication. But Nova thinks that Praveen/Melati do have internal problems.

Nova further emphasized that if Praveen and Melati do have personal problems, they should be resolved off the field. This is of course so that there are no problems that block.

"This is not a communication problem. These (Praveen/Melati) have problems that must be resolved. I emphasize, do not bring personal problems to the field," said Nova.

When asked for the best solution, Nova said that the one who could solve the problem was Praveen/Melati themselves. According to Nova, the coaching team must first focus on the existing matches and he is reluctant to be influenced by the Praveen/Melati issue.
