Menpora Strives For Audience Attendance In League 1, Implementation Of Trial Continues To Be Developed

JAKARTA - Minister of Youth and Sports (Menpora), Zainudin Amali is one of the parties who hopes that the League 1 soccer competition can be attended by spectators again. In order to make it happen, the Minister of Youth and Sports continues to finalize a limited audience trial.

One of the efforts expressed by the Minister of Youth and Sports is to appoint a match venue that has single seat facilities. Because according to him, during this pandemic it is very important to implement health protocols including maintaining distance.

"It is being finalized and the stadium in the implementation of the trial of audience attendance must be single seat," said the Minister of Youth and Sports in a virtual press conference on Thursday, November 18.

"I hope this can be applied later yes. Why does it have to be a single seat, because later the distance between the audience can be adjusted by putting a cross on the seat," said Menpora explaining.

In order to bring back the audience directly, the Minister of Youth and Sports also admitted that he was ready to facilitate PSSI and PT Liga Indonesia Baru (LIB) as competition promoters if they wanted to hold a coordination meeting with the Police, Ministry of Health, BNPB, and the COVID-19 Handling Task Force.

"If PSSI is ready and if you want a meeting or coordination meeting with the National Police, task force and other related parties to discuss this, I will communicate it," he explained.

Liga 1 2020 was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In the next season or in 2021 the league can get back on track. However, in practice, health protocols are strictly applied, including the main regulation is the elimination of live spectators.
