JAKARTA - Mixed doubles badminton player Praveen Jordan is optimistic that he can achieve the target of at least one championship title from the 2021 Indonesia Badminton Festival (IBF) as directed by coach Nova Widianto.

"Yes, I'm optimistic, even if I can get three (titles) why not? If the coach can believe in his athletes, why can't I believe in myself", said Praveen, as quoted by Antara, Monday, October 15.

At the IBF 2021 event, Praveen, who is paired with Melati Daeva Oktavianti, will compete in two tournaments, namely the Indonesia Masters (Super 750) and Indonesia Open (Super 1000).

Meanwhile, for the BWF World Tour Finals, Praveen/Melati are now in ninth place with 22,250 points, so they must try to secure their position by adding points from the two preliminary tournaments.

In preparation for the Indonesia Masters and Indonesia Open, Praveen is only focused on maintaining his focus and mentality to compete.

He said that his biggest obstacle at the moment is to endure boredom due to a long schedule of matches from Europe.

"This is the first time I've competed so far, in Europe for seven weeks. The preparation is to keep the conditions and motivation, otherwise, it would be very boring even though here (Bali) there are many entertainment facilities", Praveen said.

Previously, coach Nova stated the target of the sector he was taking care of in the IBF 2021 performance in Bali. With the target of securing a championship title, he has high hopes for his athletes considering that Indonesia's mixed doubles have not performed satisfactorily when playing in European tournaments.

"The results in Europe are not good, but we as hosts must try to win a title in the Bali tournament", said Nova.

The competition at the IBF 2021 is predicted to be difficult because the endurance of the players has decreased after a long match in Europe, therefore for now the coaching team is only focused on efforts to maintain the athlete's mental and physical fitness.
