Successfully Holding PON And Peparnas XVI 2021, Jokowi Reveals His Heart To Papuans

JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo was present at the closing ceremony of the XVI 2021 National Paralympic Week (Peparnas) at the Mandala Stadium, Jayapura.

In the event held on Saturday, November 13, 2021, President Jokowi conveyed his heart to Papua as the host of the XXI PON and XVI 2021 Peparnas.

According to Jokowi, everything that was presented and prepared for the sports party this time was extraordinary.

“In holding Peparnas XVI in Papua, I convey to my heart's content, the performance of the host of Papua province is extraordinary. extraordinary PON and Peparnas implementation. The support from the provincial delegations is extraordinary and what I see is the sportsmanship and achievements of the athletes are also extraordinary," said Jokowi.

President Jokowi also congratulated the Papuan athletes who in this Peparnas event were able to win the final position as overall champions.

“In particular, I congratulate Papua Province for all its achievements. At Peparnas, Papua province is the overall winner, winning the most medals," Jokowi continued.

Until the end of the Peparnas XVI 2021, the Papuan contingent succeeded in being in first place. They managed to bring home 125 gold, 85 silver and 85 bronze medals. Meanwhile in second place was occupied by West Java, where they came home with 102 gold, 85 silver and 70 bronze.

"And congratulations to Papua for being successful as the host of PON and Peparnas. Congratulations to the athletes, especially Papuan athletes who are aiming for their achievements," said the president.

After Papua has successfully hosted PON XXI and Peparnas XVII, the next national sports agenda will be held in the provinces of Aceh and North Sumatra in 2024.
