YOGYAKARTA Indonesia will host the U-20 World Cup next year. The tournament will be held in six magnificent stadiums in the country from May 20 to June 11, 2023. So, who are the Indonesian national team squads in the 2023 U20 World Cup?

As is known, in early September, PSSI General Chair Mochammad Iriawan asked President Joko Widodo for permission to naturalize 7 descendants of whom all came from the Netherlands.

Iwan said the descendants were a recommendation from the coach of the Indonesian National Team Shin Tae-yong. They are being targeted by PSSI to strengthen the U-19 Indonesian national team in the 2023 U-20 World Cup.

"There are seven players that we may use, all from the Netherlands," said Iwan Bule the nickname of the PSSI chairman after attending the meeting related to the progress of preparations for the 2023 U-20 World Cup at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta, Thursday, September 8, supporting VOI.

Of the seven names of descendants that Iriawan said, two names have been confirmed to be able to strengthen the U-19 national team.

"Two names are certain, we are exploring the other five. There is no problem because this is a request from the coach, yes," continued Iriawan.

The two players who have been willing to defend Indonesia are both 18 years old. The first name is midfielder Ivar Jenner who is currently registered to play for the Dutch club's U-21 team, FC Utrecht. While one other name is Justin Hubner who is the centre-back of the English club Wolverhampton Wanderers U-21.

If the two players are naturalized, the U-20 Indonesian national team squad in the Youth World Cup next year will be stronger. This is important, considering that Indonesia is the host of the event.

If Justin Hubner and Ivar Jenner are really willing to defend Indonesia, then the back and center lines will be more solid.

Ivar Jenner will strengthen the midfielder, considering he is a midfielder at FC Ultrecht. Meanwhile, Justin Hubner, who is currently filling Wolverhampton Wanderers U-21's centre-back position, is predicted to help secure the defense area.
