JAKARTA PT Honda Prospect Motor (HPM) has begun to open up opportunities to present hybrid cars at a more affordable price. This step has the potential to be the answer to the breakthrough of the Toyota Veloz Hybrid which debuted at the 2025 Gaikindo Jakarta Auto Week (GJAW) and immediately attracted public attention thanks to its competitive price.
Sales & Marketing Director of PT HPM Yusak Billy, emphasized that every Honda decision always departs from the needs of Indonesian consumers. According to him, if the demand for cheap hybrid cars continues to strengthen, it is not impossible that Honda will go down to that segment.
"We continue to consider that, yes, in the future how the market will be. So what model or segment is the most suitable for hybrid in the future," said Billy at the 2025 GJAW event at ICE BSD, Tangerang, recently.
He added that Honda does not want to just follow the trend, but ensures that the products launched really match the user's character in the country. "We always see what the needs are. What is the true desire of consumers?" he added.

Even so, Billy was reluctant to talk much about Honda's steps in responding to the presence of Veloz Hybrid. Including the question of the possibility of Honda BR-V moving up in class into a hybrid car such as its closest competitor.
"We always learn how the market is. What segment fits. I can't say what product will happen later. I can't talk about BR-V as a hybrid yet," he explained.
Toyota previously made a surprise by installing a promotional price of IDR 299 million for Veloz Hybrid type V as the lowest variant. Compare it with the gasoline variant which is in the range of IDR 297 million to IDR 346 million, the price difference is so thin that it makes many consumers look at hybrid technology.
On the other hand, Honda has been known to play in the upper middle class electrification segment. Until now, Honda's cheapest hybrid model is HR-V which is priced at IDR 449 million.
