JAKARTA - Xiaomi, which was originally known as a newcomer in the smartphone industry, has now emerged as a global player with big ambitions in the automotive sector. The Chinese company is now eyeing the gaming world by presenting a special concept car for consoles.

Xiaomi Vision GT is a futuristic two-door electric hypercar developed exclusively for the Gran Turismo 7 racing game. The simulator is widely known as one of the most realistic racing games today.

Launching from InsideEVS, Tuesday, March 3, the Vision GT is the first Vision GT car from China to be present in the game, continuing the footsteps of the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra which last year was recorded as the first Chinese car to enter the simulator.

Xiaomi says the Vision GT is built on its 900-volt silicon carbide platform. This claim sounds impressive, although it's worth remembering that the car is designed specifically for the virtual world.

Interestingly, Xiaomi also displayed a full-scale model of the Vision GT at the 2026 Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain. However, there is no certainty whether the car will develop further than just a concept model.

This step underlines Xiaomi's seriousness in expanding its global reach. The presence of cars in games played by millions of people around the world is considered a long-term strategy to build closeness with the younger generation.

Today's teenage gamers could be potential consumers of Xiaomi vehicles in the future. In terms of design, the Vision GT looks extreme with a very low ground clearance and carries the philosophy of "less is more".

This approach makes every body element designed with mature aerodynamic considerations. The cabin is also futuristic, resembling a fighter jet cockpit with a panoramic screen under the windshield and a Formula 1-style steering wheel filled with buttons and digital screens.

As a Xiaomi product, the vehicle is also conceptually integrated with the company's other device ecosystem. Vision GT adds to the long list of exclusive concept cars in the Vision Gran Turismo program.

More than 40 global automotive brands have presented their interpretations of the future car in the game, including Volkswagen, Bugatti, Ferrari, Chevrolet, Porsche, and Jaguar. Now, the Xiaomi Vision GT is ready to join the ranks of virtual cars in Gran Turismo 7.
