JAKARTA - The Vietnamese automotive brand, VinFast, has inaugurated an electric vehicle production facility in Subang, West Java.

On the same occasion, Coordinating Minister for the Economy, Airlangga Hartarto, expressed his appreciation for the inauguration of the VinFast factory which was carried out on time. "Especially in the creation of jobs, the improvement of human resources, and the strengthening of the supporting industrial ecosystem. With a significant investment scale, VinFast is believed to be able to make Subang one of the new EV industry centers in the region," said Airlangga.
The VinFast Subang factory stands on an area of 171 hectares and is developed gradually. In the next phase, production capacity can be increased to 350,000 vehicles per year, to meet domestic market demand while opening up export opportunities.
In Phase 1, VinFast's factory has a production capacity of 50,000 units per year. This facility is equipped with an internationally standardized integrated production line with high automation and advanced technology. Production areas include body welding, painting, assembly, quality inspection center, and logistics warehouses.
At full capacity, the Subang plant is projected to create 5,000 to 15,000 direct jobs, as well as thousands of indirect jobs in the supply chain and support services sectors. This will drive the social and economic growth of Subang as a new industrial center in West Java.
