JAKARTA - Ahead of its official launch next year, the latest Volkswagen ID.Cross concept was caught on camera being road tested. This indicates that the launch is getting closer.

The appearance of the Volkswagen ID.Cross during the road test was reported by Motor.es in a number of photos. The documentation also includes information and details of the production version of the car that debuted some time ago.

Behind its vinyl stickers, the latest Volkswagen ID.Cross concept looks more modern than the previously seen prototype, including parts of the signature integrated lighting in the headlights.

However, the bumper design is now revealed, featuring the typical SUV front protection and a front camera positioned above the license plate. The middle section between the headlights is divided into two parts, as well as a very sloping windshield like the concept version.

Meanwhile, from the rear view of this car comes with connected lights that give the perfect impression. However, it seems that this has not reached the final.

The photo also shared a little insight into its interior, although only the touch screen in the center console was visible, as the instrument panel and other dashboard parts were covered. The dashboard features a minimalist and high-tech design that, once again, is the same as the concept version.

As VOI previously reported, in terms of size, this electric SUV has a length of 4,161 mm, a width of 1,839 mm, a height of 1,588 mm, and a wheelbase of 2,601 mm. In terms of performance, the ID. Cross Concept is armed with a 155 kW (211 PS) electric motor that drives the front wheels.

This motor is combined with a high-voltage battery that is placed flat on the floor of the car, so as to maintain stability while keeping the cabin spacious. With this configuration, Volkswagen estimates a range of up to 420 km (WLTP), making it practical for daily use and medium-distance travel.

"This concept is almost ready to be produced. We are bringing new designs, technologies that are usually only in higher classes, as well as better quality and driving experience. With this new generation, we are keeping our promise to deliver the best Volkswagen of all time," said Volkswagen CEO Thomas Schäfer.
