Changan officially sold his cars at the GAIKINDO Jakarta Auto Week (GJAW) 2025 event. In his debut at the Indonesian automotive market, the Chinese manufacturer immediately sold two products at once, namely Changan Lumin and Deepal S07.
What made Changan's presence attract attention was its production strategy. Instead of entering through a complete import scheme (Completely Built Up/CBU) like what a number of other Chinese brands did, Changan chose the local assembly line aka Completely Knocked Down (CKD).
"This delivery is indeed what we can do from December, but gradually. Because we are also just born (in Indonesia)," said Changan Indonesia CEO Setiawan Surya at the GJAW 2025 event, Tangerang, recently.
Although it has not revealed the exact figure regarding the distribution capacity per month, Surya emphasized that the delivery of units to consumers will move in line with the growth in market demand. If the need increases, we will automatically follow consumer demand, we will try to pursue it," said Surya.
In terms of production, Changan ensures that two of its newest models have been assembled locally in Indonesia through facilities owned by the Indomobil Group. Not only assembled, the local content level or Domestic Component Level (TKDN) for Changan Lumin and Deepal S07 is also claimed to have touched 40 percent.

Changan also prepared a sales network foundation to strengthen national market penetration. Currently, the dealers' network has been present in five strategic locations, namely MT Haryono, Bintaro, Bandung, Bali, and PIK 1 which are still in the development stage.
"While there are only five. But next year we are targeting 20, we want to try to catch up with the time so that it can be realized quickly," said Surya.
In terms of products, Changan Lumin sedir is positioned as the direct rival of Wuling Air ev in the tiny electric car segment. The model is priced at IDR 178 million, carries a three-door configuration, and is designed for dense and dynamic urban mobility.
Meanwhile, Changan Deepal S07 plays in the electric SUV segment, with a tag of IDR 599 million. This model targets consumers who want electric vehicles with more premium character, both in terms of performance and comfort.
