Hyundai is preparing new steps to enter deeper into the offroad vehicle segment through the development of the XRT label as a performance line, not just a display variant. So far, XRT is known to be limited to additional visual packages, but in the future it will be positioned as a subbrand that brings real technical capabilities.
XRT is now back in the Crater Concept car, where the car comes in an off-road style gahar style. All the characteristics of the lapping car all the terrain are there, with short overhangs and sharp angled bumpers that provide very good approach and departure angles.
The thick bumper is equipped with metal slip plates and orange puller hooks, and one of the front pull hooks. Then high ground clearance, as well as tires for all 33-inch terrain.
The tires wrapped 18-inch rims that looked solid in hexagonal shape, which Hyundai said were inspired by a picture of a hexagonal asteroid crashing into a steep metal landscape. The black-wheeled and trim-body curvatures are given a "pixel camo" layer seen in the Ioniq 5 XRT bumper.
These lights, along with the headlights and back, display the retro-futuristic pixels commonly seen on Hyundai electric vehicles. Lighting, even extends to the side rearview mirror, what you'll see is actually a camera.
XRT's Future
Hyundai North America's Senior Vice President Product Planning & Mobility Strategy Olabisi Boyle, explained that XRT is no longer just focusing on cosmetic accents such as additional body coatings, tires or crane hooks going forward. Previously, the XRT emblem began to appear on the back of Hyundai in 2022, starting with Santa Fe and quickly extending toURE and the Coalition.
"XRT will be a matter of capability. We will bring real off-road capabilities and hardware to our vehicles in the future," Boyle said in his Hyundai Creator XRT Concept debut at the Los Angeles Auto Show 2025 on The Drive, Tuesday, November 25.
"We will be a really capable vehicle, and I will not say how we will make it happen."
Boyle noted that every iteration of XRT ranks has developed capabilities and features. However, most are limited by the platform used.
This move makes XRT projected as a serious rival to the established offroad line that has dominated the global market. Starting from SUVs and adventurers who prioritize chassis resistance and ability to traverse various types of terrain.
Future XRT development will not only focus on aggressive visual character, but also on strengthening structures, suspension systems, and other components that support performance when used on extreme routes. Hyundai emphasized that this update is part of a change in strategy towards real heavy-field-capable vehicles.
Although there are no details on the official launch time or complete technical specifications, Hyundai provides an illustration that the body on frame platform will be an important foundation for XRT expansion. But it is certain, Creator is also an electric vehicle.
