JAKARTA - PT Suzuki Indomobil Motor (SIM) officially opened a new chapter in its industrial history by releasing the first exports of two models at once: the Suzuki Fronx and the Suzuki Satria.
The launch ceremony, held at the Cikarang Plant, affirmed Indonesia's position as Suzuki's strategic production and export base for the Southeast Asian region.

This step marks a significant milestone demonstrating Suzuki Indonesia's capabilities, both in terms of manufacturing and the local supply chain ecosystem that supports its production for the global market. Minoru Amano, President Director of PT Suzuki Indomobil Motor and PT Suzuki Indomobil Sales, emphasized the significant significance of this achievement.
"The first export of the Fronx and Satria is a concrete demonstration of Indonesia's readiness to compete in the international market. We produce vehicles that meet global standards and are able to comply with the regulations of the destination countries. This step forward confirms Indonesia's role as one of Suzuki's strategic production bases in Southeast Asia," said Minoru Amano at the Suzuki factory in Cikarang, Bekasi, on Tuesday, November 18.
This momentum also received full support from the government through the presence of the Deputy Minister of Industry of the Republic of Indonesia, Faisol Riza, as a symbol of the strong synergy between regulators and automotive industry players. With its contribution as a producer of non-oil and gas export vehicles, Suzuki aims for these two models to positively boost the country's foreign exchange earnings.
The Japanese brand has set an ambitious target of shipping 30,000 Fronx and 150,000 Satria units overseas by 2027. Internal calculations indicate that the Fronx is projected to contribute approximately 30 percent of Suzuki's car exports, while the Satria will contribute approximately 60 percent of its motorcycle exports during the same period.
Southeast Asia is the primary destination for initial shipments. The Fronx was chosen due to the continued rise in the global SUV trend, while the Satria remains a high-performance motorcycle in demand in several countries.
Suzuki also ensures that these two models have a high local content level, at 63 percent for the Fronx and 82 percent for the Satria, demonstrating the readiness of domestic suppliers. Minoru Amano reiterated Suzuki's long-term commitment to Indonesia.
"Every unit we ship to the international market represents industrial competence and confidence in the quality of the Indonesian workforce. These exports not only expand Suzuki's global business footprint but also provide multiplied economic benefits for the local supplier ecosystem, human resources, and the national economy. We will continue to strengthen and secure Indonesia's central position on the global automotive stage," he said.
Suzuki Indonesia is no newcomer to exports. Since first shipping the Carry Futura and RC100 in 1993, the company has exported more than 800,000 cars and 1.5 million motorcycles to more than 100 countries, from Asia, the Middle East, Latin America, Africa, and Europe. By 2025, Suzuki is targeting exports of around 40,000 cars and 30,000 motorcycles, both Completely Built Up (CBU) and Completely Knocked Down (CKD) units.
Suzuki relies on three production facilities in Bekasi: Plant Cikarang for passenger cars, Plant Tambun 2 for commercial vehicles, and Plant Tambun 1 for motorcycles. More than 22 trillion rupiah has been invested since its inception to ensure a modern and efficient production line.
Currently, Suzuki is capable of carrying out the complete production process, from pressing and welding to painting and assembly to final inspection. Engines, transmissions, and seats are also manufactured in-house through its powertrain and seat manufacturing facilities. As well as the support of more than 800 local suppliers, of which 55 percent are domestic investors and 32 percent are MSMEs, involved in Suzuki's supply chain.
