Surrender, Tesla Will Strengthen Apple CarPlay Features To Boost Sales?

JAKARTA Tesla is reportedly considering embedding the Apple CarPlay feature into its vehicle infotainment system. This change in direction has been in the spotlight because for years Tesla refused to present CarPlay in his car.

Tesla boss Elon Musk, previously publicly demonstrated his rejection of Apple. This includes a commission on the App Store as well as Apple's recruitment of former Tesla engineers to develop its car project.

This attitude makes many fans believe that CarPlay integration will never happen. As reported by Electrive, Monday, November 17, consumer preferences appear to be an important factor in Tesla's change in attitude.

A study in 2024 states that the absence of Apple CarPlay or Android Auto could be a determining factor for about 30 percent of potential buyers of electric vehicles. In the midst of Tesla's sales which tend to stagnate, the need to adjust user expectations is becoming increasingly urgent.

Internal information says Tesla is currently working behind the scenes to evaluate the possible implementation of CarPlay, although no final decision has yet been made. If realized, CarPlay is expected to come wirelessly and only complementary, not replace the existing Tesla infotainment system.

However, Tesla is said to not allow CarPlay to take over core functions such as navigation. This feature will still be run through Tesla's software to be compatible with driving assistance systems such as Full Self Driving.

In addition, CarPlay's most advanced version, CarPlay Ultra, which allows control of vehicle instruments and settings, does not appear to be adopted as it collides with Tesla's system design.
