A Number Of Mercedes-AMG Models With Noisy Voices Threatened To Be Stopped In 2026

JAKARTA - Mercedes-AMG is preparing for major changes ahead of the enactment of new noise regulations in the European Union. The rules make some of the performance models that have been known for loud exhaust sounds have to end their production period faster.

Reporting from Carscoops, Friday, November 14, in the internal documents circulating, UN-R51.03 regulation "phase three" is said to take effect on July 1, 2026. This rule tightens the limits of allowed external noise, so that a number of AMG models are considered no longer meeting the new threshold.

From these records, AMG C43 4 Matic and AMG GLC43 4 Matic are projected to stop being produced in February 2026. AMG GLA35 4 Mathic is also included in the list that will be terminated in the same period. Two other models, AMG C63 SE Performance and AMG GLC63 SE Performance, were given additional time until May 2026 before it was phased out.

Interestingly, the ranks of V8-engine models that are no less known for their typicalgar sound are not included in the list. This signals that AMG's V8 line still has room to defend, although regulatory pressures are getting tighter.

Amid these changes, an AMG spokesperson said that the company is preparing the widest product in its history. The statement indicates the acceleration of electrification strategies, including the presence of many full hybrid and electric models built on the AMG.EA platform.

One of the concerns is the AMG GT XX concept, which describes AMG's future design and performance. Although the world is moving towards electrification, AMG insists that their voice identity will not just disappear.

To maintain its characteristics, the manufacturer is developing a synthetic voice with V8 nuances so that the acoustic experience still feels familiar. "Traditional values of our brand DNA will also be reflected in future models," said AMG representatives.
