Don't Forget Tire Rotation, Simple But Has A Big Impact On Car Safety

JAKARTA - Many car owners are diligent in regular services, but often forget one important thing: wheel rotation. In fact, this simple step can make the tire life much longer while maintaining comfort and driving safety.

According to the Auto2000 Marketing Division Head, Nur Imansyah Tara, the solidity of the tires is often uneven. There are times when the outer side of the tires runs out faster than the inside, or vice versa.

This condition can reduce the grip of tires on the road, and even risk causing dangerous incidents such as aquaplaning while crossing a wet road. Therefore, tire rotation needs to be done by tire owners.

"Customers can also rotate tires while service is periodic. So, the condition of the tires will always be maintained for the safety and comfort of driving," said Nur Imansyah Tara in her official statement, Wednesday, October 15.

Auto2000 explains that tire rotation needs to be done because front tires are usually faster in absorption than rear tires. This is due to a heavier front brake system, as well as a turning force in front-wheeled cars that distributes greater power to the front wheels.

For types of biased tires, rotation can be done cross-over. Where, the right front tire is moved to the back of the left, and vice versa. As for the radial tires with a directional palm pattern, the rotation must be parallel, namely between the front and rear tires on the same side.

If forced to cross, the direction of the spin of the tire palm can be reversed, causing noise and lowering traction when crossing a puddle of water. Cars with full size spare tires also have their own rotation pattern.

The spare tire can participate in rotation so that the wear is evenly distributed in all wheels. For example, the spare tire replaces the right rear tire, then the tire is moved to the front left, depending on the type of tire.

In addition to rotation, it is recommended for regular spooring and balancing. Spooring maintains the balance of wheel geometry so that it remains straight after long use, while balancing ensures the tire spin remains stable so that the car does not vibrate while driving.
