Jeep Wagoneer No More Merged To Grand Wagoneer For 2026 Model

JAKARTA - Jeep's parent, Stellantis, took a bold step to simplify his ranks of luxury SUVs. Starting from the 2026 model, the name "Wagoneer" was officially merged into the "Grand Wagoneer" line. This decision was made in order to reorganize the lineup which is considered to be starting to confuse consumers. Despite the major name change, fans do not need to worry because the reliable machine, namely the 3.0 liter Hurricane twin-turbo unit, will still be maintained.

Simplification of names brings significant changes to the hierarchy of models. What was previously known as the usual Wagoneer, will now be called the Jeep Grand Wagoneer. Meanwhile, a variant previously known as the Grand Wagoneer will continue to use the name, but now officially preceded by the "Jeep" brand.

There are three major trim levels on offer, sorted by luxury: Jeep Grand Wagoneer (base model), Jeep Grand Wagoneer Limited, and Jeep Grand Wagoneer Summit. All of these trims come with 4x2 or 4x4 drive options, as well as short-wheelbase or long-wheelbase options.

Behind the engine hood, reported from Autoweek, Wednesday, October 15, the power remains supplied by the same mechanical heart as the 2025 model, namely a six-cylindrical engine with a Hurricane 3.0 liter twin-turbo. This powerful engine is capable of producing 420 horse power at 5,200 rpm and a 468 lb-ft peak torque at 3,500 rpm. The entire power is channeled through an automatic transmission of the Torqueflite 8HP75 eight acceleration. This combination not only guarantees a capable performance, but also allows all models of the Grand Wagoneer 2026 to have an extraordinary crane capacity of up to 10,000 pounds (about 4,535 kg).

In addition to the powerful conventional engine, Jeep also announced future electrification plans by introducing Range-Extending Electric Vehicle (REEV), which is basically a hybrid series system. In this model, a 3.6 liter V6 engine will serve as a generator to charge a 92-kWh onboard battery, which then transmits electricity to electric motors in the forward and rear doubles. This hybrid series comes as Jeep's strategy to offer renewable options, following the slow sale of pure electric Wagoneer S.

With a simplification strategy and feature improvement, Jeep hopes the 2026 Grand Wagoneer line will be easier to understand and more attractive to the premium SUV market seeking a mix between luxury, performance, and field cruising capabilities.
