Wanting To Compete With Chery, BYD Sets A Target Sales Of 1 Million Cars In The Foreign Market Until The End Of The Year

JAKARTA - BYD targets sales of around 1 million cars overseas by the end of this year. This means that BYD plans to double the volume of its export sales recorded in the first half of 2025.

Quoting from the Carnewschina page, Thursday, September 4, with a target above the possibility that the brand is competing with leading car exporters, namely SAIC and Chery.

Chery itself from January to August 2025, has recorded a total sales of 1,727,299 units. This achievement rose 14.55 percent compared to the same period last year. Even until the end of the year it is predicted that it will continue to grow.

BYD's overseas sales have grown rapidly since 2022. Last year, the manufacturer sold 417,204 units outside of China. In the first half of 2025, BYD's sales volume abroad reached more than 472,000 units. Currently, the company is targeting to double this figure by the end of the year.

Based on a report from 21st Century News Group, General Manager of Brand and PR BYD Li Yunfei, expressed the company's ambition abroad for 2025. he said that BYD expects its overseas sales throughout the year to double compared to more than 472,000 units sold in the first half. This means the company plans to sell at least 944,000 units outside China.

Penetration in Global Market

BYD currently sells vehicles in more than 100 international markets. It should be noted that this Chinese car manufacturer is not only exporting its cars. BYD also operates factories overseas, namely in Uzbekistan and Thailand. The company also plans to build several production facilities in Turkey, Hungary, Brazil, and Indonesia which are planned to start operating later this year.

It should be noted that overseas sales are a strong source of income for BYD. According to a report by the Rhidium Group last year, the Chinese automaker made a profit of 5.000 US dollars or around IDR 82 million per vehicle sold in Europe.

Exports are also an important point for BYD's business as its domestic growth slows down in China. Earlier, Reuters reported that the company had slowed production in China due to rising inventories. The company denied this information. However, the increase in car supplies at dealers is a real problem as the company launched a major discount for 22 models in May this year.
