New Model And Legendary Machines Become Stellantis Strategies To Face Difficult Times

JAKARTA - The global auto giant, Stellantis, faces the first half of 2025 with tough challenges but also shows a promising recovery signal.

In the latest sales meeting of automakers, Stellantis' new CEO Antonio Filosa recently, bluntly stated 2025 proved to be a year marked by difficulty, but also a gradual increase.

Fortunately, although in Stellantis' financial report showed significant losses in the first half of 2025 of 2.3 billion euros (equivalent to IDR 43.7 trillion), reported by Motor1, Friday, August 1, Stellantis appears to be on the recovery path, driven largely by the launch of new models.

In Europe, small car markets still dominate. Stellantis has just launched three new models: Citroen C3 Aircross, Fiat Grande Panda, and Opel Frontera. These two SUVs and one small hatchback are using the same "Smart Car" platform, which helps keep the price affordable. These models compete in segments that are the heart of the European market, following the best-selling car trends such as Dacia Sandero, Renault Clio, and Peugeot 208.

Other Stellantis models, such as the updated Citroen C4/C4X and Opel Muncang, also play an important role in increasing Stellantis' market share in Europe by +127 points compared to the second half of 2024. Although Jeep Compass, Citroen C5 Aircross, and DS N=08 (based on the STLA Medium platform) are still not yet in the sales line, with the segment continuing to grow, their chances of success are real.

Unlike Europe, the United States market is still dominated by gasoline engines. The US Stellantis decided to restart the Hemi V-8 5.7 liter engine, which is ready to return under Ram's pickup for 2025. In addition, the upcoming Dodge Charger Sixpack will leave its battery for an inline-six twin-turbocharged 3.0 liter engine. Stellantis hopes that the sale of this gasoline model will lift the poor electricity variant.

In the second half of 2025, the new Jeep Cherokee will also be back, powered by hybrid technology and platform-based STLA Large. This larger platform allows the use of larger engines, such as straight-six on Charger. Alfa Romeo Stelvio will also use the STLA Large platform, providing clues about the new Jeep.
