JAKARTA - A well-known automotive manufacturer from Germany, BMW is not playing games in its planning to present more electric vehicles in the future as evidenced by the launch of the Vision Neue Classe concept in 2023.

The concept has a number of advanced technologies and will become the basis of several electric cars in the future, for example X5, X6, and X7 versions of EV.

Seeing the growing EV market in markets like the US, BMW will not only introduce it but also immediately localize the production of these models in the country.

Launching from Ward's Auto written by InsideEVs, Tuesday, June 10, the models referred to as iX5 and iX7 will be assembled at BMW's factory, precisely inliterburg, South Carolina, USA with iX6 expected to follow.

The plant currently produces no less than eight combustion engine SUVs. By 2030, BMW wants to add at least six electric SUVs to the assembly line.

The iX5 model will be the first BMW EV assembled at the US plant next year and then followed by iX7 production in 2027.

BMW iX5 akan memiliki ukuran sedang dan berpotensi menjadi pengganti dari iX yang ada saat ini. Di negeri uncle Sam, model tersebut menjadi persaingan ideal bagi Tesla Model X.

To accommodate its assembly, the company invested 700 million US dollars (Rp 11.4 trillion) to build new facilities for the manufacture of batteries and an additional 1 million billion (Rp 16.3 trillion) for vehicle production lines.

Both iX5 and iX7 will be built on a modified CLAR architecture, so that it can flexibly support pure gasoline and EV cars.

Both will carry similar technologies such as the Vision Neue Classe concept such as electric motors to more efficient batteries but produce competitive prices.

Meanwhile, the first production model to carry this concept, iX3, has yet to be confirmed whether it will be assembled in the US. Another source said that this SUV will be assembled in Mexico, outside its main production line in Debrecen, Hungary.
