Simpler, VW's Future EV Won't Be Using "ID" Naming.

JAKARTA - A number of automotive manufacturers are currently offering electric vehicle lines (EVs) globally, so they present special names for their non-emissioned mobility ranks.

However, this special naming makes some people feel confused because it is not easy to remember.

For example, Toyota already has an EV called bZ4X globally. Because it is considered difficult to remember, manufacturers from Japan decided to simplify its name to 'bZ' in markets like the United States (US).

A premium brand like Mercedes-Benz will also simplify the name of its future electric vehicle by removing the 'EQ' emblem that was introduced in 2016. Well, another automotive manufacturer, Volkswagen, will also take a similar approach.

The German's largest automotive manufacturer will remove the naming of 'ID.' for future EVs.

Austrian media reported by Auto und Wirtschaft which was confiscated by InsideEVs, Monday, May 19, VW officials have officially removed the emblem and models such as ID.2 and ID.EVERY1 will use simpler names.

"The cars will get the right names again," said Board Member Sales, Marketing and After Sales VW Cars, Martin Sander.

Thus, it is possible that VW electric vehicles will not use the naming "ID." For the first time is the ID.2 which is a compact hatchback followed by the launch of the current model refresher.

Unfortunately, VW still hasn't provided details about this. However, the manufacturer confirmed it would provide a new naming when the time comes. This gives the German manufacturer the right time to reorganize and introduce a new brand for electric vehicles.

VW introduced the 'ID.' series in 2020 and gave birth to electric vehicle lines such as ID.3, ID.4, ID.5, ID.7, to ID.BUZZ offered in markets such as Europe, North America, and others.

Not only that, the manufacturer also offers EV line models from this series such as ID.6 and ID.UNYX specifically for the Chinese market.
