JAKARTA - The automotive brand from England, Mini has officially expanded the line of electric vehicles in Indonesia by bringing All Electric Cooper 3-door, All Electric Countryman, to All Electric Aceman last year.

The three models mark a commitment step from Mini to bring more environmentally friendly vehicles that are in line with the commitment of the parent company, BMW Group.

Despite having an electrification line, Mini still receives a lot of demand for gasoline-engined models from customers in the Indonesian market.

Operation General Manager Plaza MINI, Arie Heriawan said that his party is targeting sales from around 30 percent EV lines in Indonesia because ICE-engined models are still being liked today.

"From Mini, we are targeting EV sales at least 20-30 percent of annual overall sales. Of course, because Mini customers are more inclined to conventional machines," said Arie when met at JIExpo Kemayoran, Jakarta, Tuesday, April 29.

Arie explained that customers are more interested in the ICE engine model because they like its distinctive voice which makes this choice still the prima donna.

"They like the sound of an ICE machine from Mini, so this electric version is a global supporter. Especially about EVs, globally it is being launched," added Arie.

He explained that the average electricity version of Mini customers in the Indonesian market already own these brands or exchange from gasoline machines to pure EVs.

"There are more electric vehicles that buy switching from ICE to EV or have had Mini before. Moreover, we are targeting more segmented markets," explained Arie.

Besides selling electric vehicles, Mini is still selling gasoline-engined models for the country's market from New Mini Cooper to New Mini Countryman.

Plaza MINI sells New Mini Cooper with a price tag starting from Rp1,160 billion and New Mini Countryman pegged at Rp1.513 billion On The Road Jakarta.
