L8 SUV Becomes First Model Of Free Brand, New Sub-Brand Chery

JAKARTA - After being introduced last October, a new sub brand from Chery called 'Lepas' officially introduced its first model, L8, which officially came from the assembly line.

Regarding the name 'Lepas', the company explains that the name combines the words 'leap' and 'passion' to symbolize "dynamics and vitality while balancingularity with passion." After L8, the product lineup will be expanded to cover models that cover all major segments.

Quoting from the Paultan page, Monday, April 21, Release L8 is an SUV that has similarities to the latest Tiggo 8 Plus. Seven-passenger cars that come with a length of 4,715 mm, a width of 1,860 mm, a height of 1,745 mm, and a wheelbase of 2,710 mm.

Chery did not provide detailed specifications about the L8 SUV but reflecting on the Tiggo 8 Plus sold in China, the car is available with a four-cylinder gasoline engine with a turbo-powered 197 PS and a 290 Nm torque for the 1.6 liter version.

Meanwhile, the 2.0 liter option produces 254 PS and 390 Nm of power. To have a lower capacity, coupled with a double-coupling transmission of seven accelerations, while the 2.0 liter unit gets an automatic transmission of eight accelerations that move the front wheels.

Based on reports from local media, the Release of 8L will also be embedded with PHEV and BEV technology or pure electric vehicles, in addition to conventional combustion engines. Of course, it is interesting because the electrification trend is increasing.

This brand is also said to be export-oriented, with Southeast Asia being one of the target markets along with the Middle East and South America. Is Indonesia the main goal? Of course it is worth waiting for.

For the Indonesian market itself, Chery himself has come with one other sub brand, namely Jaecool. Then there is another Jetour, but this is an independent entity under the Chery Holding Group.

Chery itself already has various car lines ups, including pure electric cars. Meanwhile, for Jaecco to carry a PHEV car and a pure electric car that is planned to launch this year.
