Daihatsu Introduces Update On Hijet, Kei Car Multipurpose For Japanese Market

JAKARTA - Recently, Daihatsu updated the Hijet model in the Japanese market with the addition of safety features to adjust regulations.

Although the exterior and internal designs are still the same as before, the kei car has several different configurations for Sakura's country.

Launching from Carscoops, Wednesday, February 26, the car is designed as a multipurpose vehicle that is ready to meet various types of professional needs thanks to its modular cargo area. In Japan, Hijet is available around 26 different variants.

Hijets can be owned in standard body models, high roofs, and jumbo or additional cabins. Not only that, the car has been specially equipped with a unique rear attachment.

The manufacturer also provides a 'Dump Series' for Hijet which includes four variations, namely Multi-purpose dump, Road dump, Earth and sand dump, and Cleaning dump. Each has a different hidraulic flat mat.

In addition, there are two Hijet variants equipped with elevatorgates, one van panel type, and five freezer options. Not quite there, Daihatsu also offers a trim Deck Van from Attrai and Hijet Cargo, featuring a two-line cabin, sliding door, and a smaller back tub.

All of these Hijet variations are built on the DNGA platform and equipped with a 660 cc engine capable of distributing up to 46 hp for naturally-assisted configurations and 63 hp for tuning with turbocharged.

This is assisted by a rear or four-wheel drive system through an electronically controlled 4WD system with additional differential lock function features. The car is also available in manual transmission of five accelerations and CVTs.
