Troubled Fuel Pump, Honda Recall More Than 90 Thousand Cars In India

Honda announced the expansion of the recall program in India involving models such as Brio, BR-V, City, Jazz, and WR-V.

Quoting from Autocar India, Tuesday, October 29, as many as 90,468 vehicles were affected by production from September 2017 to June 2018 due to problems with fuel pumps.

It was reported that the affected vehicle was damaged in the impeller section and could cause the normal function in the engine to stall.

Customers will be able to check whether their vehicles are included in this recall by entering an alphanumeric Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) of 17 of their car characters on the microsite, on the Honda Car website of India.

Those who have a backup fuel pump from Honda's official dealer between June 2017 and October 2023, can also verify their vehicle status through any Honda showroom.

In addition, the manufacturer will make free replacements at Honda authorized dealers throughout India starting November 5. They said that the affected vehicle owners would be contacted individually.

This is a continuation of the previous recall program that occurred in June 2020 involving 65,651 vehicles.

The incident adds to the list of withdrawals involving Honda cars globally. Previously, as many as 2 million vehicles bearing the "H" logo were upright in the United States (US), Canada, and Mexico were also affected.

The cause of the recall is due to problems in the driver's system so that it can potentially cause accidents.

This recall involved a number of models from 2022 to 2025, including Civic, Civic Type R, CR-V, HR-V, and two Acura models, namely Integra and Integra Type S. Now, this manufacturer with the H logo has received 10,328 guarantee claims since 2021 regarding this issue.

In detail, as many as 1.7 million in the United States (US) were affected by this problem, followed by 240,000 for Canada, and 58,000 other units from Mexico.
