JAKARTA - Used cars are now a popular choice for many people looking for vehicles at more affordable prices, including models from the Wuling brand. This brand offers a variety of attractive options in the used car market at a fairly competitive price.

According to VOI monitoring on one of the used car buying and selling sites, the price of the used Wuling car varies. For example, the Wuling Conference for 2020 is now offered at a price of between Rp. 75 million and Rp. 85 million. Meanwhile, the Wuling Cortez model for 2018-2021 is sold for a price range of Rp. 145 million.

Not only that, the Wuling flagship SUV, Almaz, produced in 2019 is now being sold at prices ranging from IDR 150 million to IDR 165 million in the used car market. Even more interesting, Wuling Air ev, a pure electric car, has become available in the used car market at the cheapest price of IDR 150 million for 2023 to 2024.

Even though the price is affordable, Wuling's used car still faces challenges, one of which is resale value which tends to be low. Then, what causes the price of Wuling's car to drop drastically in the used market?

Public Relations Manager of Wuling Motors, Brian Gomgom, explained that the former Wuling car market is still in its development stage, considering that this brand has only been present in Indonesia for seven years.

"We still need time to form the used Wuling car market. Currently, we see an opportunity to create the market," Gomgom said when met at SCBD, Tuesday, September 17.

He also added that the former electric vehicle (EV) segment, such as Wuling Air ev, still needs time to develop, considering that this technology has only started to grow in Indonesia for the last two years. "The market for the second EV has not yet been fully formed. This will take time, especially because the EV segment is still very new," said Gomgom.

Meanwhile, Gomgom compared it with an established gasoline car (ICE) in the used car market. "ICE-engined cars have been around for decades, so the market has formed well and the price is more stable," he concluded.
