Toyota has again announced a recall involving the 2023-2024 Sequoia Hybrid model in the United States (US) region because the barrier covering of the crane on the back has the potential to be detached from the car.

Reporting from Carscoops, Thursday, September 5, the automaker said the SUV had a crane barrier that was blocked by a clip in the rear bumper, but the connection design was not strong enough.

Thus, there is a possibility this is not strong enough to hold it. If the device falls while driving, this could increase the risk of danger on the highway to potentially an accident.

In total, this Japanese manufacturer recalled 43,395 units produced between August 31, 2022, and July 23, 2024. However, Toyota has not been able to provide an accurate estimate of how many vehicles were damaged or had crane barriers removed.

Toyota noted that it had received two field reports regarding the crash of a crane block on their vehicle. In addition, the automaker has started an investigation and discovered the imperfections of the installation in this section.

The manufacturer has been working on perfecting the design of crane barrier covers between June 2023 and August 2023, before the device is updated into production in early July 2024.

As of last August 20, Toyota had received about 1,024 guarantee claims regarding the barrier covering of the crane that was damaged by Uncle Sam's country.

This automotive manufacturer will notify the owner of Sequoia Hybrid starting October 5. Dealers will be instructed to replace the crane barrier with updated parts and modify the rear bumper.

This also adds to Toyota's recall list of Sequoia models in the US. Previously, they had announced a recall involving 33,848 units of 23 different models, including Sequoia.

The reason for this recall is not a technical or software issue, but because of an error in the installation of vehicle stickers. It is reported that several vehicles have wrong stickers about the weight of the accessories.

It was stated that the problem was caused by a programming error which resulted in the system miscalculating the weight on several parts of vehicle accessories.
