Toyota And Suzuki Partnerships Reap Impressive Results In India During April To July 2024

JAKARTA - Toyota and Suzuki have established partnerships in developing several models, particularly for the Indian market. This allows both to share the same chassis and components in accordance with mutual agreement.

It aims to reduce research and development costs. This partnership paid off well for Toyota after introducing several models in the country on the basis of the Suzuki vehicle.

Citing Autocar India, Monday, September 2, Toyota cumulatively received sales of 97,867 units (up 35 percent) in the period April and July 2024. Of these, Suzuki-based vehicles obtained 51,314 units or represented 52 percent of the total.

A number of these vehicles include Glanza (based from Baleno), Urban Cruiser Taisor (Fronx-Based), Rumion (ERRtiga-based), and Urban Cruiser Hyryder (from Grand Vitara). Thus, this shows a good trend in the rise of Japanese car manufacturers in India.

From this data, the Urban Cruiser Hyryder SUV sold 18,852 units (up 58 percent) and became the best-selling model among rebudged vehicles. Then, followed by Glanza with 17,851 units (up 4 percent).

Then, the Urban Cruiser Taisor model occupies the third position with 8,005 units and Rumions totaling 6,606 units.

Since its launch, Rumions have sold more than 12,500 units in the first year until the end of July 2024. Later, Glanza recorded sales of 178,886 units since its launch in June 2019. Meanwhile, Hyryder, which was launched in September 2022, is approaching its milestone of nearly 100,000 units.

During 2024, Toyota in India managed to obtain sales of 245,676 units (up 42 percent) with 107,151 units of vehicles that had been rebudged or contributed 43 percent of the total.

Not only Toyota, Suzuki also took a number of base Innova Hycross for Invicto, which is estimated to have sold around 5,363 units since its launch in July 2023 until the end of July this year.
