Chery Opens The Possibility Of Playing In The MPV Electricity Segment In Indonesia

JAKARTA - The choice of electric cars in Indonesia is increasingly diverse, even recently the producer from China BYD launched the first electric Multi Purpose Vehicle (MPV) in Indonesia which is claimed to receive a consumer warm welcome.

Indeed, reflecting on the order at the GIIAS 2024 event last July, this one car was ordered by more than 1,000 units. Of course, this condition makes the MPV segment look like it has a promising market in the country.

Responding to this, PT Chery Sales Indonesia (CSI) through PT (CSI) Head of Marketing Mohammad Ilham Pratama, revealed that Chery himself still sees the market conditions as what the electricity MPV market looks like.

"For example, MPV electricity, maybe Chery has seen that there is a need," he said, when met in the Fatmawati area, Jakarta, Wednesday, August 21.

Ilham added that when it comes to electricity MPV, Chery himself has studied it, but when its execution (presence) is not yet known, it is only limited to studying.

"We have studied it but we don't know the execution yet," he added.

Not without reason, Ilham revealed that currently Chery is still focused on existing models. Indeed, Chery itself already has an E5 electric car model which is also well received in the market.

Chery also introduced iCar 03, the first off-road electric car in Indonesia designed for all terrain, the electric car is claimed to have a tough performance.

"Right now, we are doing well in the SUV first and we have an i Car that we have just introduced," he concluded.
