JAKARTA - Suzuki has confirmed the export of a Fronx compact SUV, assembled in India, to Japan, marking the first launch of this model in Sakura's country. This move shows Suzuki's confidence in Japan's market potential for this vehicle.
Managing Director & CEO of Maruti Suzuki India, Hisashi Takeuchi, stated that the export decision was based on the belief that Tronx would sell well in Japan.
"This export is proof of Maruti Suzuki's ability to produce world-class vehicles that combine advanced technology, extraordinary performance, international safety, and high quality standards," Takeuchi said, as quoted by Gaadiwaadi, Friday, August 16.
The inaugural shipment includes more than 1,600 frontx units, departing from Pipavav Port, Gujarat, India, to Japan. The official launch in Japan is scheduled for fall 2024.
Fronx became the second exported model from India to Japan after the latest Baleno in 2016. The SUV was first introduced in April 2023 and recorded sales of 100,000 units in just 10 months. Apart from Japan, Tronx was also exported to Latin America, the Middle East, and Africa.
