BYD Successfully Sells More Than 340 Thousand Environmentally Friendly Vehicles In July 2024, Here's The Best-selling Model

JAKARTA - Build Your Dreams or BYD has again strengthened its position as the world's best-selling environmentally friendly vehicle brand by producing sales of up to 340,799 units in the July 2024 period.

Reporting from InsideEVs, Monday, August 5, this number beat the previous record in June with 340,211 units or only hundreds of units adrift. Last July, the manufacturer from China obtained more than 12,600 EV sales from its sub-brand or 30.5 percent from last year.

Of the 340,799 units, Plug-In Hybrid (PHEV) vehicles dominate sales of environmentally friendly BYD vehicles with 210,799 units, up 67 percent from the same period last year.

Unfortunately, BYD's Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) experienced a 3.5 percent decline or 130,000 units last month and made it the overall lowest share in more than three years.

For seven months this year, BYD posted sales of 1,947,944 units of environmentally friendly vehicles or 29 percent more than last year.

Of these, PHEV vehicles contributed the most with 1,091,791 units (up 44 percent) and Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) totaling 856,153 units or an increase of 14 percent) compared to last year.

Meanwhile, BYD's best-selling model during July fell to the Qin series with 73,541 units, followed by the Song series 65,272 units, and the Yuan family amounting to 40,952 units.

Small-dimensional models such as Seagull managed to contribute up to 36,256 units making them one of the best-selling EVs this brand has obtained. In China, this model is sold at an affordable price of 69,800 yuan (IDR 157.7 million).

The company intends to get more sales than in 2023. As an illustration, last year BYD booked more than 3 million environmentally friendly cars or 62 percent more than in 2022.

For this year, it is estimated that it will be much higher than in 2023. The company intends to achieve an average growth rate of more than 20 percent to 3.6 million units.
