Kia Presents EV9 Earth At GIIAS, Environmentally Friendly Material Display On Its Interior

JAKARTA - PT Kredese Indo Artha (KIA), as the agent holding the Kia brand in Indonesia, presents the latest variant of its electric Big SUV, namely EV9 Earth, at the GIIAS 2024 event.

The launch of this model also confirms Kia's commitment to reducing carbon footprint by using environmentally friendly materials in each line of its electric vehicles, including the EV9 series.

"Through the launch of Kia EV9 Earth at the GAIKINDO Indonesia International Auto Show 2024, we want to strengthen our commitment to encouraging vehicle electrification in Indonesia. EV9 Earth is our answer to SUV lovers who want advanced electrical technology in comfort and security, and are able to accommodate the needs of families with 7-SEATER capacities. We believe that this vehicle will provide a premium and environmentally friendly driving experience for our customers," said Marketing & Development Division Head of PTrah Indo Artha (KIA), Ario Soerjo, in his official statement, Friday, July 26.

This is in line with Kia as a global automotive player who emphasized its main goal of becoming a provider of sustainable mobility solutions by 2030. Globally, Kia targets sales of 4.3 million units per year, including 2.48 million electrification models in line with the addition of hybrid electric vehicle (HEV) and plug-in hybrid (PHEV) lines supported by the latest generation of driving machines that offer better performance, torque and efficiency.

We are also aware of the huge potential in Southeast Asia with Indonesia, which is the largest automotive market in the region. The strong economic outlook and large government incentives place Indonesia in the right position for exponential growth with a target of 20 percent of all car sales being electric cars by 2025," said Dato 'Samson Anand George, Vice President of KIA Asia Pacific HQ, during a press conference at the 2024 GIIAS Media Day Exclusive some time ago.

This Kia transformation is further strengthened by reducing carbon footprint in all lines of activity aimed at achieving carbon neutrality by 2045, through the use of renewable energy sources and increasing energy efficiency in the manufacturing process. One of the concrete steps at this time is the use of 10 recycled materials applied to the Kia electric vehicle interior, namely the EV9 series.

There are 10 materials consisting of bio plastics used on dashboards, consoles, pillars, and coatings, PCM plastics for door coating, bio PU (Polyurethane) used on benches, recycled PET fabrics for sun visor, headrest, and bench coating, recycled PET or fish net for carpeting, UU biofoam used on cushion head rest; bio paint on door switch panels, BTX (Benzene, Toluene, and Xylene) free-paint as interior coating, recycled PET threads used as seams on benches; and recycled felt cloth used on luggage boards.

Especially at GIIAS 2024, Kia displayed the 10 environmentally friendly materials in the Sustainability Area at the Kia Hall 3A booth, ICE BSD City.
