BYD Shows Sophisticated Technology E4 Platform Yangwang U8 At GIIAS, Can Scan 359 Degrees

PT BYD Motor Indonesia features one unit of Yangwang U8 display, a luxury SUV powered by the Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV).

Interestingly, the car is equipped with an E-4 Platform as BYD's flagship technology, which is able to improve the performance of this SUV in various terrains and at the same time has a rotating capability of 359 degrees.

President Director of PT BYD Motor Indonesia Eagle Zhao, said that this time GIIAS 2024 is BYD's first momentum to introduce Yangwang U8 and we are very happy to see the enthusiasm of the visitors.

"We have planted the E-4 platform at BYD Yangwang U8 to optimize vehicle movements, as well as adaptive capabilities even in a state of emergency in the resulting power while driving. We hope that the Yangwang U8 BYD display can introduce and provide further education about the sophistication of the E-4 Platform as the latest innovation from the BYD research and development team," he continued, when introducing the technology to the media.

Please note, the E-4 Platform is a revolutionary power system consisting of three core control systems. First, four Independent Drive Motors to move each wheel powered by their own electric motors. Second, Friction control functions to read road conditions to optimize motor performance so that movement will be better in all conditions such as sandy roads, steep incline, and others.

BYD also added a Body Stability Control on the E-4 Platform for handling stability for the convenience of passengers while vehicles are walking on the road through sensors that are integrated with E-4 located in various corners of Yangwang U8 BYD vehicles.

Through three core controls in the E-4 Platform, BYD also presents an unprecedented control system through vehicle movements, where vehicles can rotate in place when activating the Turn Tank feature. The E-4 Platform allows precise torque control of each wheel, activates features such as Tank Turn, and increases off-road capabilities.

The Tank Turn technology on the E-4 platform implemented by BYD Yangwang U8 allows vehicles with dimensions 5.3m x 2m x 1.9m and weighs 3.4 tons to perform maneuvers easily, including during parking. With the ability to rotate up to 359 degrees, this technology provides a significant advantage in facing parking challenges in narrow or inaccessible areas.

BYD completed the E-4 Platform with various sensors spread across the core parts of BYD Yangwang U8, including the Integrated Measurement Unit, Wheel Speed Sensor, Steering Sensor, Camera Sensor, Millimeter Wave Radar, Lidar, Ultrasonic and many other sensors.
