Achieve Bad Results Of Last Year's ANCAP Collision Test, MG5 Will Improve Safety Features

JAKARTA - Many countries have strict regulations regarding vehicle safety. Through a hit test, manufacturers can ensure that their vehicles comply with safety regulations in various markets.

At the end of last year, the MG5 sedan obtained disappointing results in the hit test by obtaining zero stars from the Australation New Car Assessment (ANCAP).

It was stated that the sedan failed to test the system to avoid accidents considering that getting five stars requires qualified features and a good body structure to protect passengers from injuries when an accident occurs.

Thus, the thing that is in the spotlight on this car is the lack of safety features in avoiding collisions. The manufacturer will certainly pay close attention to this and will launch this model update in the near future.

Launching from CarExpert, Friday, June 14, MG5 with increased safety features will arrive in Australia in recent months and is in the process stage.

"We are now in the final stages of realizing this in the MG5," said Senior Product and Strategy Manager of MG Motor Australia Akshat Ahuja.

Unfortunately, the manufacturer still has not provided certainty regarding the improvement of this modern sedan feature. However, it is estimated that this will arrive towards the end of the year or next year.

"The time will be towards the end of this year or next year. We are in the final stages, and we are also working with the authorities," added Ahuja.

With the improvement of the features embedded in MG5, it is possible to re-test by the ANCAP safety authorities increasingly open and the manufacturer is trying to make it happen.

"We're working on it," said CEO of MG Motor Australia Peter.

Previously, ANCAP had tested this model according to strict protocols. This sedan scored in the Adult Passenger Protection category with a score of 37, Safety Assistance with a value of 13, Vulnerable Road User Protection with a value of 42, and Child Occupancy Protection with 58.

As reported by VOI in December, this British manufacturer will provide a series of the latest accident avoidance features, such as lane-seep assists, traffic sign recognition, and an automatic emergency braking (AEB) system.

MG is willing to invest in developing an increase in the model worth US$4 million or around Rp62 billion. The impact of this increase on prices remains to be seen, given the many new advanced safety features removed to keep prices affordable.
